What I believe

When I say Believe in Beltz, I’m asking you to believe in the values that shaped me, my family, and my vision for Polk County. As a descendant of Oregon Trail pioneers, I carry the same grit and perseverance they relied on to build a better life.

I came to Oregon in 2004 with that same hope—for myself, for my daughter, and for the community I now call home. I know the value of hard work, putting myself through college while raising a family, and pushing forward when times are tough.

Those lessons guide my public service today: growing our economy without new burdens on working families, keeping our neighborhoods safe, and ensuring government is accountable to the people it serves. My leadership is built on hard work, fairness, and the belief that Polk County should be a place where everyone has the chance to thrive.

What Matters Most

A STRONG LOCAL ECONOMY

I believe Polk County deserves a thriving, resilient economy that lifts up families, small businesses, and communities alike. As a business owner, Monmouth City Councilor and President of the Monmouth Business Association, I know firsthand the challenges and opportunities that entrepreneurs face.

Growth in Polk County should come from smart investment in our local talent, our unique culture, and our natural assets—not from raising taxes on working families and small businesses. That means creating opportunities for family-wage jobs, strengthening our downtowns, and supporting industries that bring new resources into our county, from tourism to innovation. When our economy grows in the right way, we all benefit—businesses thrive, families succeed, and our communities become stronger.

SAFE AND HEALTHY COMMUNITIES

Every person in Polk County deserves to live in a safe, healthy, and supportive community. From West Salem to Willemina, from Falls City to MI Town, I am committed to ensuring that law enforcement and emergency services have the tools and training they need to keep our neighborhoods secure, while also making sure that people can access the services they rely on—whether it’s for healthcare, housing, or mental health support.

True safety goes beyond policing; it means strong emergency response systems, safe roads and bridges, and programs that help seniors, veterans, and families live with dignity. By bringing people together around shared priorities—public safety, wellness, and preparedness—we can build communities that are not only safe but deeply connected.

ACCOUNTABLE, TRANSPARENT GOVERNMENT

I have spent more than 25 years in public service, and I know that trust in government is earned through honesty, accountability, and transparency. Polk County residents deserve leaders who will manage taxpayer dollars responsibly, ask tough questions, and bring people into the decision-making process. I have proven that I am that kind of leader—as a Monmouth City Councilor, as Chair of the Mid-Willamette Valley Council of Governments, and in my many years of regional service.

My commitment is simple: I will listen to you, be open about decisions, and always put the public good above politics. Accountable government is not just about balancing budgets—it’s about making sure every resident feels heard, respected, and represented.

Our Path Forward

HOW I'LL BUILD A STRONG LOCAL ECONOMY

  • Deliver Strong Infrastructure: Put my ODOT experience to work so Polk County roads and bridges are prioritized when funding decisions are made. I know the system — and how to make it work for us.

HOW I'LL ENSURE ACCOUNTABLE, TRANSPARENT GOVERNMENT

  • Stay Accessible: I will ensure regular community forums, listening sessions, and open-door communication. Meeting people where they are - whether it's in Grande Ronde, West Salem, Falls City, Pedee or anywhere in between.

  • Be Fiscally Responsible: My decades of experience managing budgets have taught me how to set priorities, meet metrics and make sure resources are used wisely.

  • Measure What Matters: Tie spending directly to outcomes we can measure and achieve.

  • Promote Transparency: Provide clear reporting, open data, and easy public access to decisions.

  • Put People Before Politics: Focus on solutions, not partisanship.
